Season Over Update 6/8/20

June 3, 2020

The health and safety of our athletes, coaches, and staff is still a top priority for the SCVA.  After much consideration, the SCVA has sadly decided to cancel the remaining junior girls’ tournament dates.  These cancellations will also include the possibility of rescheduled events and/or the creation of a summer league for the girls’ programs.

The SCVA feels that clubs, coaches, and athletes should be focused on the training side of the sport of volleyball, and not the competition side of the sport.  At this time, the SCVA would encourage clubs to focus on returning to training slowly, safely, and within the guidelines set forth by your state and local governments.

All refunds for the Junior Girls’ Program will be processed over the next two months.  Each club director will be contacted directly by the SCVA to confirm entries, payments, and the processing of any refunds. .  If your club is in need of the refund quickly, please send an email to and let us know.  We will do our best to move your case to the top of the list.  The SCVA appreciates all of your patience during this time.

In addition, the SCVA has contacted the CIF offices requesting a waiver for the upcoming high school season, so that our athletes can try out during the month of October.  This morning, November tryout dates were mentioned however those dates were not realistic with the logistics of starting a new season.  The 14 and Under tryout dates are still on schedule for opening on October 3rd with a commitment date of October 6th.  The specific tryout dates for high school aged athletes will be released shortly, pending a response from the various CIF offices.

The SCVA hopes that all of your families, athletes, and volleyball families are safe not only during the COVID pandemic but also during this time of social unrest.  The SCVA hopes that all our clubs are able to survive this chaotic time, and will return to the club volleyball platform for the 2020-2021 season.

Stay safe.  Stay healthy.

Thank you,

Shannon Davenport

Director of Operations
