Play Like You Want To Practice
One of my favorite baseball players is Pete Rose, "Charlie Hustle." He was once accused of playing too hard in an all-star game because he barreled into Ray Fosse, the catcher, to score a run. Fosse suffered a fractured and separated shoulder, and some say Rose went too far in an exhibition game.
When people brought it to his attention, he said, "I play it all the same. I play this way in spring training and practice."
His approach to everything was the same. Every competition was important but not special. He focussed on consistency.
This mindset is what NU Breed teaches our athletes. Practice like you want to play, and play like you want to practice.
We want our athletes to walk away from each practice saying, "I'm proud of the way I practiced today."
