Optimism Is A Choice
Optimism is a choice and an attitude. It is not a delusional mentality that belives everything will turn out the way we want. Instead, its a mind that says I will do the things that will make a difference.
It is not the denial of reality but a belief in the power of choice.
In the movie Catch Me If You Can, Frank Abagnale Sr. receives an award and gives a simple but powerful acceptance speech. He said,
"Two little mice fell into a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse wouldn't quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Gentlemen, as of this moment, I am that second mouse."
It reminds us of the importance of never giving up. Keep churning your legs until you change the very thing that threatened you.
I came to this revelation one day why sitting at a beach bond fire. The fire roared in the still night. I noticed that everything thrown into the fire caused the fire to glow, and then the fire consumed and changed the item.
I want to be like fire, that glows when anything is thrown at it and then changes it.
Being optimistic is about learning the life lessons in each event. It is committing to live with imagination to seek out actions that shape the future.
NU Breed wants to be like that mouse that keeps moving and chooses a no-quit attitude. We will keep pressing forward to provide athletes with quality training and overall positive club experience.
We want to model the attitude we will teach the athletes.
We want your athlete to glow despite what life throws at them.
